মার্ক ৩:১-৬, Luke ১৩:১৪, John ৭:২২– ২৩, Mark ২:২৩–২৮, John ৭:৫৩–৮:১১,Mark ১০:২–৯, Mark ১২:১৮–২৭

Thirty-ninth, Jesus is supposed to be the moral guide for all behavior, but he can't even give mankind consistent rules with respect to the treatment of adultery and divorce. Mark 10: 11 says, "Whosoever shall put away his wife and marry another, committeth adultery against her." Note well that if you get rid of your wife for any reason and marry another, you have committed adultery, according to Jesus. But in Matt. 19:9 Jesus says, "Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery." In other words, Jesus' pronouncement in Matthew allows divorce in cases of fornication, that is, presumably, in cases where the wife has commited adultery, while that in Mark does not.

On page 200 in The Jew and the Christian Missionary Gerald Sigal summarized this matter quite well:

Jesus III 141 Contrary to Matthew's record, which allows only adultery as a reason for divorce, Jesus' words, as recorded by Mark and Luke, do not permit divorce under any circumstances. . . . Paul supports the extremely rigid, legalistic declaration as found in Mark and Luke. He also directly -attributes to Jesus this legislation, whose restriction goes beyond the law of divorce as stated in the Law of Moses.

So, again, we ask. Will the real Jesus please stand up and provide the proper teaching for all Christians?
